Philippe Starck - The God Of Design

  • Through his "democratic design" concept, Starck campaigns for well-designed, quality objects that are not just reserved for an elite. He would put this utopian idea into practice by increasing production quantities to cut costs.
  • The first French man to be invited to the TED conferences (Technology, Entertainment & Design) alongside renowned participants including Bill Clinton and Richard Branson.
  • He strongly believes that Design without Humour is not Human. He further states that Humour is the finest symptom of human intelligence.
  • Co-founded 'Yoo' - the design house, with John Hitchcox in 1999. Since then, yoo has worked with international developers, designing landmark residential projects throughout Asia, Australia, Europe, Africa, North and South America and the Middle East.
  • Starck's approach to design is subversive, intelligent and always interesting. His objects surprise and delight even as they transgress boundaries and subvert expectations.
